Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
How is Zen Clipper Precise different from other nail clippers?
The blades are designed to create an opening that surrounds the nail and the micro-adjustment thumbwheel allows you to open and close the blade opening – this allows you to limit the amount of nail you are clipping. Even if your pet moves he or she cannot put more nail through the blades than the hole allows.
This allows you to trim a little at a time, stopping when you approach the quick, or blood supply in the nail.
My dog or cat has dark nails. How do I know where the quick is located so I can figure out how wide to open the Zen Clipper Precise the first time I use it?
The best way is to trim a little bit at a time until you see a little white circle just start to appear at the end of the nail – this is the beginning of the quick. Stop when you see that white circle. On some nails you can look on the underside of the nail and the quick is more visible than from above. The key is to trim a little bit at a time!
I opened the Zen Clipper Precise to the widest setting and now when I turn the adjustment wheel it doesn’t close.
It’s possible to adjust the Zen Clipper Precise past its widest opening. Just keep turning the wheel in the direction of the smaller circle on the handle and it will close. It makes take several turns of the thumbwheel for it to re-engage and start closing the blades. If you have any questions, comments or concerns please contact us!
